Amarone - deep ruby red, spicy and earthy, touch of oak, volume of tannins. Try with rich intensely flavoured meats, or rich meat sauces.
Barbera - deep crimson, fruity, lightly spiced, untoasted oak with a nice finish. Goes well with hearty foods, Italian pasta or with tomatoes and chicken.
Barbaresco - big, medium-full body, robust yet refined, dry, complex. Serve with Osso Buco and all rich stews.
Barolo Style - deep purple colour, robust mouth feel, black fruits and lots of oak. Serve with stews or Osso Buco.
Cabernet Merlot - a harmony of soft fruit flavours, a hint of oak.
Match with barbequed red meats.
Cabernet Sauvignon - bold, flavours of cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant & some oak.
Serve with pepper steaks, spicy pasta dishes and roast beef.
Cabernet Shiraz - a big fruity wine; a powerhouse of flavours and aromas, can be extremely elegant. Serve with beef or lamb dishes.
Chianti Style - dry, light, medium bodied, elegant with flavours of cherries/blackberries. Great with tomato based dishes.
Domain des Brumes™ - fresh, easy drinking red wine with flavours of strawberries and cherries. Serve lightly chilled with pasta or pizza.
Luna Rossa™ - big, bold, bountiful, rich black fruits and oak. Excellent with medium, rare, red meats and stewed beef.
Malbec - robust, fruity, lush red with blackberries and a touch of spice. Serve with stews, wild game.
Merlot - red berries and spice, soft, easy tannins, medium body. Good with red meats and pasta, steaks, prime rib.
Montepulciano - deeply coloured, rich, blackberry, black pepper and balanced acidity. Excellent with pasta and veal.
Pinot Noir - delicate with aromas of violet and characteristics of cherry/raspberry.
Excellent with turkey, salmon, game meats, mushrooms and veal.
Pinotage - intense fruitiness, peppery spiciness with subtle aromas. Serve with bbq pork or red meats & wild game.
Shiraz (Australian) - rich, ripe fruit aromas and plenty of plums, hint of spice. Compliments full flavoured meats/stews.
Rioja - dry, medium to full bodied, bright red, aromas of spice and oak.
Serve with stewed beef or spiced red meats.
Rosso Fortissimo - Tuscan style wine vinted from a blend of red grapes on skins. Bold fruit finish, full-bodied, solid structure, oaks, intense. Pair with steak or tenderloin.
Sangiovese - bright red, cherry character, hints of violets and white pepper. Try with veal Parmigiano, garlic and onion dishes, blue cheese, figs or plums.
Valpolicella Style - delicate bouquet of red berries and oak. Easy drinking with pizza or pasta.
Zinfandel - deep flavourful wine, notes of raspberries, figs, chocolate, spice. Try with sausages, pork, Mediterranean dishes
Zweigelt - appealing fruit and spice character. Earthy aromas, nice long finish.
In its Austria homeland paired with garlicky pork, apples, shanks and ribs.
White Wines abound. We have crisp, light, medium and some which are quite full bodied. Yes, some whites are crowding into what was once 'red' territory. Traditionally whites are served chilled, or slightly chilled.
Chardonnay - a medium-full bodied wine with rich ripe fruit and a smooth mouth feel. Some are heavily oaked. Others are 'naked'. Matches well with poultry and creamy sauces.
Chardonnay Semillon - a blend of wines which provide citrus and tropical aromas. Light vanilla notes, soft on the palate. We like this one bubbled. Great with aperitifs.
French Columbard - subtle fruit, smooth finish. Ready to drink once bottled. You'll be surprised how well this goes with curries and other spicy dishes.
Gewürztraminer - grapes grow in cooler regions which give it a pronounced fruity and spicy edge. Off dry, lovely lingering impression. Ages elegantly. Enjoy with most Asian foods.
Grüner Veltliner - Austrian, full bodied, fruity wine with creamy texture. Never heavily oaked, hint of sweetness. Gru-Vee is considered one of the most versatile food wines. It can handle omelets, asparagus, even artichokes.
Liebfraumilch Style - off dry, floral bouquet, ripe sweet fruit flavours balance acidity. Goes with lightly spiced dishes. Piesporter Style - a soft, easy drinking wine with delicate aromas and flavours of apple, pear, honey and elderflowers. Sip alone, or add your favorite sandwich.
Pinot Grigio - refreshing citrus character, note of peaches. Crisp, harmonized. Pair with light chicken, fish or pork dishes. Works well with Asian foods.
Pinot Gris - green apple and lemon bouquet, rich mouth feel. Tangy fruit acid balanced with a hint of sweetness. Charm apparent after a few months of aging. A good choice with rich foods, butter, oil and garlic shrimp, rich pastas
Riesling - we have several versions of this popular white. Crisp, clean, refreshing. A dry white with sweet impression. Compliments seafood and pork.
Sauvignon Blanc - including the award winning New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which is a global favorite. Complex, long rich flavours, dry finish. No oak. Herbed roasts, oysters, salmon, scallops all work well.
Symphony - dry, fruity, good acidity. Intense aromas of grapefruit, mango, papaya. Excellent with spicy foods such as Szechwan or Mexican.
Verdicchio - a delicate Italian wine. Light, fruity, refreshes the palate. Serve with aperitifs before dinner.
