Beers and Ales available from our U-Brew

All the following Beers are made with premium malts, hops, yeasts, and our pure artesian water. They taste just like the commercial beers you know and love!

LaZy Lager
Lager is a relative newcomer, having become common in the 19th century. Now it is one of the most popular beers around. This premium lager is refreshing, straw coloured with subtle aroma. It goes well with hot dogs, hamburgers, steak, sandwiches, and any foods you might be enjoying on a hot summer day or after a hard day at work.

Old Country Pilsner
You want something cool and refreshing? Then try this favorite. It is a crisp, European-style pilsner. Easy to drink with slightly lower alcohol content than most beers. Fresh aroma profile of a true to style all-grain beer. Pairs well with pub fare, nachos, salads.

Czech Pilsner
The original pilsner was brewed in the Czech Republic in 1842. Now, as then, it is known for its generous use of hops. Our medium bodied version is a golden, clean, satisfying beer with a fabulous hop finish. This elegant beer is delicious all on its own. It is also a perfect companion for seafood. If you’ve been enjoying lagers and pale ales, your taste buds are ready for this truly international class beer.

River Rock Ale
This beer is in the style of West Coast pale ale. It has a complex aroma of hops, low bitterness and a pronounced maltiness. Try it with spaghetti, lasagna, fried chicken.

Mid-island Pale Ale
A beer with roots in the English Midlands, pale ale dates as far back as 1870. Today it is copied world wide. Ours is a true early version with light hopping. Perfect with red meats and cheeses.

MoZart Island Ale
In the style of an IPA, our ale has a copper gold colour and slightly higher alcohol and hop rate than our regular ales. Perfect match for spicy foods and BBQ. Stands up to big food flavours, yet is crisp and refreshing on the palate.

Mex
Crisp. Refreshing. The finish is dry, and the hop profile has an aroma that will remind you of a well known beer from Mexico. Great with burritos, enchiladas, tacos. You may want a slice of lime. Or, you may just want to relax in the sun with this cool one.

Red OKtober
Our red ale is copper red in colour, has a crisp, malty character, delicate hop bitterness and pleasing floral aroma. With all those thirst quenching attributes, this beer is sure to please. Best enjoyed with friends, and smokies, sausages, bbq ribs, or garlic jumbo prawns

Honey Cream Ale
This is cream ale with a perfect balance of malt, honey, and hop character. It is a great introduction to the world of complex beers without the heaviness of darker beer. Copper in colour with medium hop bitterness and a satisfying aroma. The Alamo is a great match with chili and many chicken dishes.

FGB
This Fermented Grains Beer is an exclusive pilsner style developed for our VIP (Vancouver Island Preferred) tastes, and was named by one of our VIP clients. Once you try it, we feel you will agree that this is a fabulously good brew. It goes with just about anything you are eating, or doing. We call it the ‘National Beer of Vancouver Island’. What do you think? We’d like your opinion.

ESB – Hurricane
Enjoy this classic British refresher made from the finest 2-row malt, other select specialty malts, and traditional hops. Delicate malt aroma, dark amber body, low carbonation. Real hop bitterness balances the complex malt flavours. A fantastic medium-bodied ale that is clean and crisp. Works with hearty stews and hamburgers.

Dopple Dark Lager
Since the mid-19th century this dark beer has been brewed in the Bavarian city of Munich. Our version is characterized by a delicate sweet maltiness and a toasted nutty flavour. This rich, medium bodied beer will compliment chicken or pasta dishes.

South Wellington Stout
Brewed since at least 1820, stout is Ireland's gift to beer lovers. Ours is dark and rich with rich chocolate/espresso finish. Stout is a perfect match for shellfish, particularly oysters. Also great with curries and strong cheeses.

Special Order Beers

Allow 3 to 6 weeks for order to arrive.

Wolf Brewing Red Brick IPA
(local wort from Nanaimo)
India Pale Ale was developed in England during the colonization of India. Attempts to ship beer from England were foiled by the rocking of the ships and the high temperatures in the hulls, and were spoiled before reaching their destination. In London, a brewer named George Hodgson began brewing beer for export to India. It was brewed with a higher alcohol level and higher hopping rates than usual which preserved it. If you like hoppy ale, this is the one for you. Full flavoured, rich body, golden amber in colour, well-balanced, 6.0% alcohol/volume. It’s ‘lunch in a bottle.’

Wolf Brewing Honey Ale
(local wort from Nanaimo)
No other ale is like this. One of its ingredients is from the South Island of New Zealand - a 100% certified organic honey made by bees from beech tree sap – instead of the usual nectar. This adds an interesting malty flavour to this dry beer. Pizza, anyone?

Varieties Available Seasonally

Wort for some beers is available only on a seasonable basis. If you want to take advantage of any of these options please let us know.

Wolf Brewing Porter

(local wort from Nanaimo)
People who enjoy the dark side of beer really like this beer. Beer writers and connoisseurs have given praises about this beer, saying such things like “Easily the best Porter in Canada,” and “Chocolaty, creamy smooth and rich.” For a delicious surprise, pair this at room temperature with plain cheesecake.

Whistling Wheat
An opaque ‘white beer’ with citrus overtones. Traditionally, beer is made from malted barley; beverages made from rice, wheat, and other grains do not really qualify for the beer category. However, we wouldn’t want you to miss this one. It’s a refreshing summertime thirst quencher. Pair with salads, sandwiches, and picnic fare.

Other specialty ales become available as cold weather arrives. Ready to try something different? Talk to us.

At Art of Brewing, beers are made with premium malts, hops, yeasts, and our pure artesian water. They taste close to the beers you know and love, and to well-made micro brewery equivalents. Cheers!
